Technology has become a crucial element to our daily professional and personal lives. This course highlighted the capabilities of various technological tools and how they boost the effectiveness of elements such as productivity, problem solving, decision making, and project management.
I have included a project below from this course where my team and I evaluated several different tools and how effective they are in project management situations. Our situation centered around the logistics of transporting hurricane relief supplies to those affected by hurricane Ian. The situation called for a large amount of moving parts from inventory, delivery schedules, logistics capacity, and shipment tracking. The tool I analyzed was MeisterTask. MeisterTask is a web-based project management tool that provides intuitive functionality and well-designed interfaces to help teams effectively manage and collaborate on tasks. This tool brought an impressive fusion of functionality and collaboration to fully support our project of transporting hurricane relief supplies. This tool gave us the functionality to track the progress of collecting, packing, and loading relief supplies onto our carriers equipment and the ability to track these shipments in a easy to read interface. On top of this we were able to pull reports on shipments that have been completed and compare them to current inventory levels and goals to ensure we are on track.
This project gave me the experience and opportunity to explore other technology tools and how they can be used in a business setting. This helped me gain insight on how large of an impact a well built tool can make on projects. This also showed me the various criteria to look for when selecting an effective tool.
This was also a great team building assignment where my team and I were collaborating all semester through several channels such as Microsoft Teams and Outlook to generate ideas and forge our final presentation of the tools we selected. I was able to learn from all of my teammates strengths and share my strengths as well with PowerPoint design and execution.
